Late Night

A late night after completing some parts of the thesis that I've been working on recently.
I'm dead tired, still couldn't help it but fill my ears with melodies before I hit the sack.
I love listening to songs after all.

Good night.

Gua Tempurung

I finished my Progress Test last Thursday, then fell sick, caught a flu. But it's no stopping me from enjoying my weekend with God and nature!!

Petaling Jaya's Full Gospel Assembly Youth (FGA PJY) had successfully carry out a one-day trip to Gua Tempurung (Perak) on Saturday!! It wasn't my first time entering Gua Tempurung, but it's the first time I went for the river tour!! Fun, exciting!! It's been so-so-so long since I last had such a great trip in God's creation of nature's beauty!! What's more, going with my church friends was so much fun!! We really had a great time!

The cave was beautiful, at certain views, especially the cave window view! Probably not as good as Gua Niah in Sarawak, but still beautiful, in my eyes at least. =) We first toured the the 'dry' route, climbing up and down flights of stairs, while enjoying the scenic view in the cave. We saw rocks formation with the shape of a sea horse!! And a human's face!! There's many other unique shapes, some people could see a dolphin, but I didn't see any. It's a mystery how nature works in the world of Art. Masterpieces of God, maybe.

Gua Tempurung was also once a shelter for the communists, during the Emergency back then I guess. So we also saw some old Chinese writings on the wall, with beautiful drawings of British vintage cars!! They could really draw!! However, some easier-to-reach sections of the cave have been scribbled by tourists. I personally think it's not a good idea, kind of like vandalism to me.

After that, came the most exciting part, the river route!! Since we took the smaller package, we actually didn't explore the whole cave. It must be much deeper, and much more dangerous to take the complete package. The river route started with a rocky slide into a deeper section of the cave. Then, we had to climb into a hole to the lower chamber, before reaching the icy cold underground river. And hence, started the river "walkathon". We frequently found ourselves hunching, crawling or even swimming when the cave ceilings get too low at certain areas.

Now, I would like to highlight a misconception among many people when it comes to the river tour in Gua Tempurung. It's NOT SLIPPERY AT ALL!! Because there's no sunlight in there, there's no mosses on the rocks in the riverbed. It's mostly sand and stones under water. It may be harder for some people to keep their balance due to the uneven riverbed, but it's really not slippery. Unless you're stepping on big slabs of marble at one or two sections of the river, which you might want to take note because the marbles are smooth, the rest of the river is considerably safe.

The water is actually quite clean, especially for Malaysia rivers. It's only a little bit murky, because of the sandy riverbed and those powdery rocks of the cave. Your shoes won't be damaged, it only gets dirty. By the time I reached the exit, whatever little space left in my shoes were filled with tiny stones and sand. But after a good cleaning, those shoes can still be used. Still, it's not advisable to wear slippers or sandals that have a thin sole, and too exposing. A covered pair of shoes will protect your feet from sharp rocks and stones.

The river is quite shallow, though the water level reaches my hips at certain places. Not advisable for children under 12 years-old to travel the river route, but there were kids as young as, 7 years-old maybe, among us youths who explored the cave. Of course, we young adults kept a very close eye on them, all the time. We were lucky to have strong guys among us, who gave helping hands for almost everyone at difficult areas, such as the rock slide and the deep hole to the lower chamber.

In conclusion, that was a great experience!! Never knew caving could be this fun!! I really want to go for more of this kind of expedition. Maybe next time I can try some more challenging adventures, like the full package at Gua Tempurung, or maybe Malaysia's world-famous cave, Gua Niah. For those who are interested to have a tour in Gua Tempurung, or those who wants to know more about this cave (especially those who have never heard of it), you may check out this website for more information!     {LINK}

Have a safe and enjoyable caving/potholing experience people!

P/S: Thank God for such a wonderful weekend and a safe trip under your protection. Amen! =)

Bible Quotes & Proverbs (NIV) #1

1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,
but whoever hates correction is stupid.

2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

2 Praise the LORD, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits—
3 who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
5 who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

26 Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens:
Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one
and calls forth each of them by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,
not one of them is missing.

2013

This post was due on the first week of 2013, right now it's expired by 3 whole weeks!! Sorry people, have been kind of busy lately...

So, how did I spend my last few days in 2012??

Read some interesting novels!! The Shade's Children by Garth Nix, and two books from the Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. I'm halfway through the third book now, will continue reading during Chinese New Year break.

Watched The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey with my brother and my mum. In 3D!! My second 3D movie in cinema!! =D

Went for three Christmas celebration in three churches!! On the 23rd December in Petaling Jaya Full Gospel Assembly (FGA). Attended a Christmas Eve Virgil in St. Theresa Catholic Church, Melaka. And lastly, Gateway Christian Fellowship, Melaka Christmas Gathering on Christmas morning!! These are the presents I got from gift-exchange and some friends from PJ!! *Bliss~ 8(>.<)8*

Now, what's new to me in 2013??

Proceed with my ACCA courses in F7 (Financial reporting), F8 (Audit and assurance) and F9 (Financial management) papers. Hoping and praying that I won't fail my papers from the previous semester. My guess it's a 50:50 chance since I didn't study as hard as I used to back in those days... *Sighs*

Started using this massive open online course (MOOC) website called Coursera!! I might get bored with studying a particular subject/course for a long time, but I always love studying new things!! Hence, I've enrolled in a number of courses here on this website introduced by a friend. Hopefully I will manage my time well too in this tight schedule. Here are the courses that I've signed-up for!!     {LINK}

There are, currently, 215 courses offered in Coursera, for FREE!! If you're interested in getting your hands on these courses, here's the link for you!!     {LINK}

Oh! I'm also getting more active in church, especially in PJ, since I've joined the weekly FGA Youth activities. Guess what?? I can't believe I'm learning how to play the drums in church!! Of all other musical instruments. Haha!!

Now I can't wait for the Gua Tempurung Trip next Saturday!!

>> What I do in church when I'm not drumming and not studying. In other words, when I'm bored.

Right now, I'm only three days away from my first Progress Test of this semester. This time, I have to make myself study!!

No Surprise

It's no surprise I won't be here tomorrow...

I love this song. It reminds me from time to time not to take things around me for granted. My family, friends, things that keeps my lifestyle going like money, a healthy body, etc...

I don't like taking things for granted. Thinking that everything will stay the same is deadly, you become dependant on practically everything around you. The best example to show that you're overly dependant on certain things in life is you will go hysteria when you lose your things like mobile phones. You feel like the end of the world is here. Yes, that's what I'm talking about. Taking for granted that in your life you will always have a mobile phone. It becomes your necessity instead of an 'option' in life.

I keep reminding myself that things may go wrong any time. The worst things in life never come expected. I keep telling myself my parents won't be here for me forever, my friends too might just disappear in a blink of an eye, I might just lose a place to stay the next day, or I might just lose my life the next time I drive recklessly. These thoughts keep me going in life. Or else I would've stayed in this 'comfort zone' forever. I wouldn't even want to improve my life because I'm already satisfied with what I have.

But I guess, for the past few months, I've actually bear this thought, this dangerous thought of 'things will remain as it is', like remain forever. When I start taking things for granted, I stop working hard to achieve what I want. I started wasting my times on unproductive things. Sometimes, I even tell myself that my grades are not important any more. When I come to realise, it's a little bit too late. I didn't work as hard for my study as before. I guess it's no surprise if I get a dissatisfying result in two months time.

So time to keep myself back in shape. No more slacking in my study and in life. Always remember that things will change, and they do change, especially when I'm not prepared for it. I guess I learned my lesson pretty well this time.

There's no surprise they won't be here tomorrow...

Once (2006)

I'm really supposed to be studying now. But I just couldn't resist from watching a movie. Right now, I'm feeling guilty. *sobs*

But just had to share this movie first!! It's an old film, from 2006. I was bored and looking through movies online. Since the IMDb rating for this film was quite good, I just randomly downloaded it. And it was not bad after all!! Man, I love the songs in it!! And I find Czech and Irish accent interesting.

A modern-day musical about a busker and an immigrant and their eventful week in Dublin, as they write, rehearse and record songs that tell their love story.

Here are the songs I love~♥ All these songs are by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova~♥

~Falling Slowly~

~When Your Mind's Made Up~

~If You Want Me~

Hope that you guys like these songs, and movie too!! =)
Now time to study!!

P.S: This is my hundredth post!! Cheers!! =D

Finals Around The Corner...

It's been AGES since I last posted on my blog!! Sometimes I've even forgot of its existence! Sorry my dear blog... =(

For the past, one month?? Or two months?? Oh, I've even forgot when was the last time I blogged. Nevermind. Yes, I have been kind of busy. I've been going out to see fittings and furnitures for my family new house. I've been going out with my friend, and stayed overnight at her condo for the second time. =) I've had a meal in Italiannies!! I've gotten my first boost for the HPV cervical cancer vaccine. I've test-drive the new Nissan Almera, my first time driving an auto-car!! And lastly, I've just had a continuous six days of exams revision classes, from 8:30am to 5:00pm, and I'm so going to sleep like a pig tonight.

Let me tell you, buying a house can be considered cheap in Melaka, but the furnitures and renovation can cost up to half of the price of the house!! So far, the cost of renovation and some fittings for the new house has already came up to RM80,000+, and there's plenty more to buy!! Plus my mother's monthly medical fee, and a new car that's coming soon, al these must be costing my dad tons of his hard-earned savings! I really admire and respect my dad for being a good father and teacher, and at the same time a man who have achieved financial freedom in life.

Speaking of the car, daddy is planning to buy the all new Nissan Almera!! We went for a test drive at Melaka's Tan Chong Motor showroom last Monday. OH MY GOD, auto transmission cars are way too easy to drive!! And the electric power steering is so light, I think I can even turn it with just two fingers!! Still, I prefer manual cars, I think it's more fun driving a manual as compared to auto cars. The reason my dad is willing to buy a car now (he is super fine with his 18 years-old Wira) is because I WANT THE "WXY" CAR PLATE!!! Haha!! Hopefully this new car is worth the price, and it better last as long as that old Wira!! My dad has already booked the car today. Can't wait to get the car!!

Nissan Almera 1.5L. Colour: Twilight grey.

My last class for this semester just ended today. We celebrated our lecturer, Ms Pushpa's birthday too!! She's such a nice lecturer, I feel so guilty for sleeping in her class, law paper is really not my cup of tea. And I actually failed law by three marks in my mock exam. Sighs. Looks like it's really time to enter into hard core revision. Please don't tell my parents of my result first, okay??

Are you a Malaysian girl, born in the year of 1993?? If your answer is a yes, you are eligible to get the HPV cervical cancer vaccine for free from the government!! Just contact the LPPKN clinics, Klinik Nur Sejahtera, to schedule an appointment, and you can get the vaccine for free!! It requires a total of three boosts, the second injection is one month after the first, and the third one is five months after the second one. For 1993 ladies, the last day we can get this vaccine for free is by 31/12/2012. Starting from next year, it will be free for girls born in 1994. So do get it quick if you really want it!!

Today I'll also like to share a blog written by a lecturer of my, Mr Brien. It's about how to achieve your financial dreams through smart investments. Though the articles are kind of general, those who have no financial background at all will find it easy to understand! I think he's doing a right thing, sharing tips and knowledge on how to improve your life financially, maybe one day he'll make many peoples' lives easier!! If you want to have a head start in investment right now, please follow his blog through his "Journey To Dreams". I hope you all find it useful. =)

That's all for today. Wish me luck in my finals, which will in less than two weeks time. All the best to my friends who are still having STPM!

COOK!! DESTRESS!!!!

NOOOO!!!! It's exams week again!!
My F5 paper on Friday was horrible!! 30% gone because I don't know how to do those questions. I don't have enough time anyway. And from what the lecturers told us, I'm not expecting to get good grades for my next two papers. So today I'm doing the usual thing during exams week to destress, COOK!!

TA-DA~!!
My brunch! scramble egg, frankfurters, and mashed potato!!

This is my first time cooking mashed potato!! I got the recipe from someone on facebook, her name is Felicia Chiew. Her recipes are awesome!! Though the cheese cake I tried didn't turn out so well.. =/

Well, here's the recipe for mashed potato: Facebook link

The Potato
Peel and cut the potatoes before steaming them. Then mashed them, it will be better if I have a blender. Add in some melted butter and fresh milk. Add a pinch of salt if it's too plain.
Rating: 8/10
Taste just like the one in KFC!! =D

The Gravy
It uses oyster sauce!! A cup of water, 2 or 3 tablespoons of oyster sauce, supposed to be 3 teaspoons of corn flour, but it's not dense/soupy enough, so I added 2 more teaspoons of corn flour. Add some pepper if you want to.
Then melt some butter on the frying pan. Pour the mixture into the pan and stir till it boils. Add some milk, and it's ready to be served.
Rating: 3/10
Now, I think I don't like oyster sauce. For me it tasted quite horrible!! Spoiled the taste of my mashed potato. So next time I'll find other gravy, or replace oyster sauce with canned mushroom soup. LOL.

So yeah, there goes my brunch! Left a lot of cleaning to do after cooking, as usual. Time to get back to studying. Sighs... Hope that I can pass at least 2 out of 3 papers for this progress test. Wish me luck!!

Here are some photos for the jelly fruit cheese cake my friends and I tried during the Raya break. Recipe from the same person who made the mashed potato. However, the cheese of the cake couldn't stabilise, it's too soft, probably we didn't add enough of gelatin. In the end, we had to put the cake into the freezer, and it sort of became like an ice-cream cake!! Hahaha~ Recipe: Facebook link

Inspiring Quotes #4

Here are a few quotes which I would like to share with you all today!! =)

But the one that I would like to emphasise on, is this...

When I found this quote in my e-mail, immediately I start to remember a few opportunities opened to me, that I've missed in life...

That one-in-a-life-time free trip to Taman Negara with my friends in Form 5. I can't believe I missed this golden ticket to Taman Negara, just because of my of library duties as a Head Librarian!! Sometimes in life, we should not be too dutiful.

A camping trip to Broga Hill with my college mates. Thanks to my hesitation because not many of my friends were going, but it should not have bothered me since I love camping so much!!

A few Scouts' camps which I should have attend to get a King Scout status. I missed these camps because my mum has already bought the bus tickets to Singapore for a social visit, and she won't let me waste those tickets. Hence, there goes my dream of getting King Scout.

The chance to learn piano when I was little. Back then, piano lessons seemed to be 'scary' to me, I don't know why. Maybe because my parents asked me when I was not even ready, and I didn't even know what's it like learn piano. So as a kid, I said: "NO!! DON'T WANT!!!" Now I know, I want the skill to play at least one musical instrument very much, because I've come to love music.

Even the opportunity to help an elderly man in a wheelchair, who was putting all his strength to move himself in a shopping mall towards the toilet, when I was going to the toilet too. I only found out that man was going to the toilet when I came out of the female washroom, and I regret for not offering my help back then when my heart urge me to do so. Yes, this happened today when I was at The Curve. And I'm ashamed of myself for ignoring this chance the Lord gave me to do good to others.

So people out there, whenever you feel like you have a need to do something, or when your heart urge you to do something, that will bring good to others and to yourself, do not hesitate. When you know you love something very much, which is not a negative thing in life, go get it!! You never know what you've missed back then, until you really lost it.

Yes, it's like losing your love ones. Sometimes you'll never know you truly love them, until they're gone. So do appreciate everything you have, because some things in life will never come back after it disappeared.

Blessed and Blissful Sunday!

For a long time, I've been searching for a church to attend in Petaling Jaya area since I became a Christian. I just couldn't find one, until today!!

A thousand thanks to my neighbour, Aunty Jenny, who found out that I'm a Christian and invited me to her church for Sunday worship!! All the members of the Full Gospel Assembly Gospel Hall in PJ are really friendly. The FGA PJ Gospel Hall had their weekly services in Chinese language, which I've never experienced before since I've only attended Gateway's English services. But trying to understand the Words of God and worshipping the Lord in my mother tongue is not much of a problem to me. Thank God, because I can understand Chinese, although there are a few words which I don't understand while giving praises to the Lord.

Praise to the Lord!! For He has strengthen my faith, by guiding me to the House of God, even when I'm away from home!! =)

After the service, I went to Ikea with my dear friend, Sandra. Yes, with Sandra, at Ikea, again!! I guess you can say we really love those meatballs~♥ And then we went shopping again at IPC!! I wanted to buy a pair of flats... No, I need a pair of flats!! I'm out of shoes to wear in KL, and I've never had a pair of flats before. Unfortunately, the same old reason is still there to stop me from buying nice shoes... THE SIZE OF MY FEET!! Why can't I find any flats with size 3 at a reasonable price?? Must I really go to the kids department next time?? In the end, Sandra bought quite a nice pair of flats at a good price, and I bought nothing... *Sobs*

After shopping, we went to The Curve to get the McDonald's Chicken Foldover. Just by showing them the McDonald's coupon, we get to 'buy 1 free 1' a la carte Chicken Foldover! It's kind of worth it since the normal price is RM9.10 including tax. And it tasted great too, because it has onions and the chicken was grilled, not deep fried!! I would say it tasted much better than McChicken!! The 'buy 1 free 1' deal will only last till 15th of August, you can get it just by showing the coupon, through photocopied or even on your phone!! That's what I did, saving the coupon on my phone and we got one free Foldover. So don't miss out the deal!! =)

After we got our dinner, we went hunting for a cafe in The Curve. It's called Tenshi no Cafe. However, our search was in vain!! Because I only came to know of that cafe from a friend, I don't know the exact location!! And because we're out of time since the 6:30pm shuttle bus will be leaving soon, we didn't get to have a look at the cafe. I'm so going to get the exact location from my friend, and we shall try to find that cafe again!! It's not that we're interested in this maid cafe (Did I mention this earlier?), it's just that we've never seen one before and we would like to visit one or have a look at it, just for fun and out of curiosity. What's life if we don't check out something 'abnormal' to us, right?? ;)

So, in conclusion (Sounds like I'm writing a Physics experiment report), today was a really great day, filled with joy and blessings from the Lord. Thank you, Lord for such a wonderful day!! Hallelujah!! Thank you, Jesus!! Amen!! =)

CAT June 2012 Results

YESH!!!!!!! I PASSED CAT EXAMS!!!
I'M OFFICIALLY IN ACCA RIGHT NOW!! WOOHOO!!

Finally, the long awaited results are out. And I'm very satisfied with my marks!! 84% for Audit!! I've finally got over the 80% threshold for this paper!! And 95% for Tax!! Yayyy~~!!! =D

However, I too got my progress tests results for my ACCA F4, Law paper today. A very pathetic 58% for law. As for ACCA F6, Taxation, it's only 71.5%. Sighs... Looks like there is no room for me to celebrate my CAT results, there's only room for improvement. *sobs* =(

Inspiring Quotes #3

My mum sent me this through e-mail, probably to cheer me up because I'm feeling down lately. I'm afraid, and my parents are afraid too, that I will fail my exams.

It's been a long time since I actually have a feeling that exams are this tough. I mean, after high school I've done really well, I should say sufficiently well, in the programme I chose, which is CAT. ACCA seems to be something totally different. I can do well even if I don't study hard in CAT, just have to study smart. But in ACCA, looks like there will be no gain without hard and smart work.

Time to change my life style. Like, completely. Time, to make a difference.

"End Child Hunger" Walkathon

Organised by Sunway-TES Accountancy Club, sponsored by BDO, Sunway Lagoon, ICAEW and Sunway-TES. It's the "End Child Hunger" Walkathon held in Sunway University and Sunway Lagoon. The beneficiary of this charity event is none other than World Vision.

This morning, I woke up at 5:30am, just to join this walkathon. My friends and I went out at 6am and reached Sunway University by 6:15am. The registration was at 6:30am, and the walk started at 7am after Mr Teo, Executive Director of Sunway-TES gave his short speech.

We started from Sunway University's Graduates Centre, walk all the way to Elephant Walk, and then enter Sunway Lagoon. After touring one round in Sunway Lagoon, we came out from the same exit, and walk back to college.

It's my first time entering that water theme park. There is a mini-zoo in it!! Looks pretty cool, the sceneries are awesome too!! But the tickets are not cheap. For all participants of this event, we got 50% on the theme park ticket, RM50 for 5 parks and RM40 for 3 parks. However I didn't buy the ticket because none of my friends are going. Sighs. Oh well, I can't swim anyway. =/

Nevermind, at least I feel good after the walk. Yes, I sweat a lot!! The whole journey took us around 30 minutes only. Still, I sweat like crazy. And I'm happy because I made a donation, and supported a good cause. I hope that more children who're suffering from hunger can be saved through World Vision. God will surely bless them. =)

That's right!!
I've saved a life today.
Have you?? =)

Six Ethics Of Life!

Set these as your life long principles!!
May God be with you!! Amen!! =)

Dinner Of The Week~

I cooked my dinner!! Yes yes, I know it's nothing to be proud of... Anyway, this is my first time cooking vegetables on my own~ And one of those few times I cooked such a beautiful 'bullseye egg'. LOL~

Dish No. 1: The soup
Actually, it's Vono's Instant Mushroom Soup. =.= I don't have the time and ingredients to cook a proper soup, so I just cooked the instant soup with more water. I mean, too much water, until I have to add some starch powder as stabiliser... Added a little bit of salt and pepper to get some of the diluted flavour back. Probably will never cook this again.

Dish No. 2: The vegetables
First boil a pot of water, then put the vegetables in the boiling water for 10 seconds. It's my family way of cooking the vegetables so we don't use too much oil when we stir-fry it. And it's a success! Taste normal! =)

Dish No. 3: The egg
What's there to talk bout a normal fry egg?? Hahaha~

Dish No. 4: Instant noodles
I wanted to cook rice, but there's no more rice in the house. For people who seldom cook like me, buying 1kg of rice will eventually spoil the rice. It's a new product by Maggi, I think. The new 'Mi Goreng', with two new flavours: Cili Pedas and Kari Ori, is selling at a promotional price of RM3.20. But 99 Speedmart is selling it at RM2.95!! So I bought the Kari Ori flavour to have a try. Not bad!!

It took me 50 minutes to cook all these!! I need to improve myself in cooking. And as usual, what's left after dinner are these...

Oh well, the reason I cooked today was because of exams... Whenever I'm stressed, I will do something to release my stress, cooking for example. So I cook more often during exams period. =)

Tomorrow I will be going for a charity walk at college, the End Child Hunger Charity Walk, organised by Sunway-TES Accountancy Club, sponsored by Sunway Lagoon, Sunway-TES, BDO and ICAEW. The beneficiary of this charity event is World Vision. Those who're participating in this event get 50% discount on Sunway Lagoon Entrance ticket!! I've never been there before, but now I don't know whether I should buy the ticket or not, cause I don't have anyone who will accompany. Sighs. I'll ask some of my friends tomorrow.

Because the event registration starts at 6:30am, I have to wake up really early tomorrow. I already bought my breakfast, a Mocha Swiss Roll. =) So I'm going to sleep early tonight!! Good night people!!

Next stop, Progress Tests 1!!

OH MY GOD!!
In a blink of an eye, my progress tests are just around the corner!! Next Monday!! And I've not started my revision. Sighs... Maybe I shouldn't be too active in CCA...

Yeah, I've been quite active in the NERF Club lately, since I've been 'promoted' to be the Secretary. Conducting weekly games, booking the venue, writing minutes, etc...
But I do enjoy what I'm doing!! It's really fun!! Especially after I've stopped joining any club since after Form 5. I miss those days back in high school...

Right now I'm in a small dilemma... To join Sunway-TES Accountancy Club or not? I wanted to join this club since last year, unfortunately I missed the due date to hand in the form. Right now, I'm already kind of busy with the things I need to do. So should I join the club this year??

I went back to Melaka last weekend. Sad to say I'm not going back this weekend, so that I can concentrate on my revision. I had sandwiches for lunch with my mum last Sunday!!

There's egg, chicken sandwiches, black pepper sanwiches, minced-dried shrimps, tomato and lettuce!!

Taste like Subway sandwich!! Only without BBQ sauce and onions... =/

My mum suggested this caption:
"Mummy and her big mouth~"

What I did on Tuesday night after NERF... =.=

Time to type a meeting minute for the this week's NERF game. See ya~ ;)

Inspiring Quotes #2
